Kiwanis Club of Colorado Springs

Ordinary people performing - EXTRAORDINARY WORK

Kiwanis, through guidance and example, works to develop future generations of leaders. Every day, Kiwanians are revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth-sports programs, mentoring, building playgrounds, and performing countless other projects to help children and communities.

Loosely translated from native American languages, Kiwanis, means SELF expression.
We like to voice our SELF expression as a team through:
  • Service - providing time & energy to worthwhile causes
  • Education - developing a more informed membership
  • Leadership - training tomorrow's leaders today
  • Friendship - expanding our circle of friends & associates.

Focusing primarily on the needs of children and youth in our community, the Kiwanis Club of Colorado Springs has provided more than 350,000 hours of community Service to organizations and individuals throughout Colorado Springs and the surrounding communities.

Through our meetings we learn first hand about issues and activities which are central to our community. This Education forum allows us to be better informed as we seek to be more involved in building a stronger community.

We know that the best communities depend on a strong Leadership base and we are proud to draw on a diverse membership as we learn and serve throughout our community.

Through our meetings, mixers and social activities we develop a circle of Friendship which extends beyond neighborhoods and the workplace. We truly function as an extended family committed to making a difference.

The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis International were approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924 Kiwanis International Convention in Denver,Colorado. Through the decades, they have remained unchanged.

▸ To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
▸ To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
▸ To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business and professional standards.
▸ To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.
▸ To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build better communities.
▸ To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.
